The Tennis Club
The tennis courts were opened on 19th July
1920. Created from a very primitive site, requiring considerable
excavation, the original surface of the courts lasted only 3 years.
Work was needed again in 1925 to repair and rebuild them. They then
required major work every 10 years or so until in the late 1970s a
permanent all-weather playing surface was created on two of the three
courts.- the third being given to the Bowling Club.

Bowling Club
First proposed in Golf Club records in July 1928, when
a sub-committee was established, it took another 50 years before it
came into being as an independent body, under the patronage of the
Golf Club. Donations and fund-raising allowed the laying of a nylon
carpet in 1981. The club is now totally independent of the Golf Club. |
